Mayor Mike McCormick’s Accomplishments

1. Lowest Municipal Property Tax.

The Village of Godfrey has the LOWEST municipal property taxes in all of Madison County, with a smaller government and NO municipal debt. By comparison, Edwardsville has a property tax rate that is twelve times higher than Godfrey! During my tenure, the tax levy has never been raised.

2. Consolidation of the Village and Township.

By consolidating the Village and Township several years ago, we eliminated wasteful spending on politicians and extra administration, while lowering YOUR property taxes. Other communities in Madison County still pay both, municipal and township, property taxes.

3. Best Park System in Madison County.

The Village of Godfrey has the best parks! Whether you utilize the parks for youth sports, pickleball, or just to enjoy a walk, you know how much our parks add to quality of life in Godfrey, along with increasing your property values. I am pleased to announce that we will soon have a dog park.

4. New Locally-Owned Businesses and Improved Roads.

I am proud of the day-to-day work we have accomplished. Several new local businesses have opened, roads have been improved throughout the village, including upgrading oil and chip roads to asphalt. Progress has been made in extending Lars Hoffman Road from Godfrey Road to Pierce Lane and upgrading Pierce Lane.

5. Opposed Mayor Pay Raise.

Last, but not least, I adamantly opposed a pay raise for the Village of Godfrey Mayor position, refusing to sign the ordinance. I believe whoever serves as Mayor of Godfrey should be doing this job for the love of this community and not for financial gain.
